This is the third book in a series. This review will probably spoil you if you haven’t read the previous book.
Goodreads’ summary : It’s time.
Evil is running rampant and sweet Anna Whitt is its target. Nobody knows when or how the Dukes will strike, but Anna and her Nephilim allies will do anything necessary to rid the earth of the demons and their oppressive ways.
The stakes are higher than ever, and Anna is determined that the love she feels will be her strength, not a liability. But trying to protect the ones she loves while running for her life and battling demonic forces proves to be perilous—especially as faces are changing and trust is fleeting. When the Duke of Lust sends Anna’s great love, Kaidan Rowe, to work against her, Anna must decide how much she’s prepared to risk.
In the most sensual and fast-paced installment yet, Sweet Reckoning brings all the beloved Neph together one last time to fight for their freedom.
What a sweet ending ! Well, even if technically there’s another book coming out (in september I think ?)
Life was often so cruel, so ugly. And then, in the midst of all the madness, a precious gift would be placed in your lap. Because life could also be so sweet.
Anyway. It starts maybe hours or days after the end of Sweet Peril.
Anna is being watched closely. Duke Pharzuph thinks she is the traitor alongside her father, and he is determined to prove it.
Kaidan, Blake, Ginger, Marna, Kope and Anna are now more than aware of the danger.
Kaidan/Anna relationship is not the main subject in this book, which is nice. And their couple is not the only thing putting the scooby gang in danger now.
What I found really interesting is that everytime a new nephilim appears, you cannot say for sure if he’s an ally or will deceive them in the future.
The major plot line is this big fight, everything is leading them to this.
Belial is trying to help is daughter and comes with the strangest idea. That worked perfectly.
To be honest there is not a lot of “surprises” in this book. it turns out how it was expected. Except for a few things.
But that’s more than okay with me. I got what I wanted. There is :
– humour and wits
– cute moments but not too much.
it’s all perfectly balanced.
There are some characters that amazed me.
First, Ginger. She is the most impressive when it comes to character development. She goes from self preserving to careless, wild with some moments of weakness.
Jay is what I would call the unexpected character. He takes more importance in this book, in a good way.
Z who changed a lot. I wish we could have been able to read about her progress.
Kaidan changed too, he is more opened. But Anna is totally my favorite character. She is determined to save the nephilim from their awful destiny, to achieve her mission. She is so selfless, and yet, such a badass character. She is so well written.
Now I cannot wait for the sequel to be out. Even if I don’t know what to expect. Because Sweet Reckoning is such a beautiful ending to this series.
