This is book 5 in the Bloodlines series. This review will spoil you if you haven’t read the previous books.
Goodread’s synopsis : Sydney Sage is an Alchemist, one of a group of humans who dabble in magic and serve to bridge the worlds of humans and vampires. They protect vampire secrets—and human lives.
In The Fiery Heart, Sydney risked everything to follow her gut, walking a dangerous line to keep her feelings hidden from the Alchemists.
Now in the aftermath of an event that ripped their world apart, Sydney and Adrian struggle to pick up the pieces and find their way back to each other. But first, they have to survive.
For Sydney, trapped and surrounded by adversaries, life becomes a daily struggle to hold on to her identity and the memories of those she loves. Meanwhile, Adrian clings to hope in the face of those who tell him Sydney is a lost cause, but the battle proves daunting as old demons and new temptations begin to seize hold of him. . . .
Their worst fears now a chilling reality, Sydney and Adrian face their darkest hour in this heart-pounding fifth installment in the New York Times bestselling Bloodlines series, where all bets are off.
It was so so good guys !
It’s action packed, funny and witty as all of Richelle Mead’s books.
Sydney is held captive by the alchemists, in a secret compound. after 3 months of solitude, she decides to act like she is actually seeking redemption.
Adrian and the scooby gang are doing their best to find her. Adrian also moves back to Court.
I liked this book better than the previous one. Don’t get me wrong I loved The Fiery Heart, too but it was way more predictable than this one. Silver Shadow’s plot isn’t mind blowing neither but it’s good, and guys this book was such a page turner !
There is this HUGE plot twist, I wasn’t expecting this at all and I really liked it. Plus, the cliff hanger totally got me by surprise.
- I love Sydney. In this book she is so strong minded, the alchemists haven’t been able to brainwash her. She is also really selfless, she wants to help her co prisoners so badly.
She used to be the perfect little alchemist. Now she has learned to think for herself. Her character has had such an important development.
- Adrian back pedaled in the middle of the book. It was like a flashback to his previous life. He kind of disappointed me. Nonetheless he also grew up, he is different than what he used to be in the past.
- Sheridan is the character you love to hate. She is so cruel and won’t hesitate to torture in order to get what she wants.
- Lissa acts like the Queen she is and it was weird to read about.
Now I can’t wait to read the final installment of this wonderful series !
