Goodreads’ synopsis : Beloved #1 New York Times bestselling author Colleen Hoover returns with an unforgettable love story between a writer and his unexpected muse.

Their untimely attraction leads them to spend Fallon’s last day in L.A. together, and her eventful life becomes the creative inspiration Ben has always sought for his novel. And another 5 stars for a Colleen Hoover’s book ! That’s not surprising, though.

You’ll never be able to find yourself if you’re lost in someone else.

Plot :
In this book, we only get to read about a day per year, which is, you have guessed, November 9th. Our two main characters Fallon and Ben are only interacting on this day, every year.
There’s a strong connection between them that started the moment they saw each other. Ben is a writer while Fallon is an actress.

When you find love, you take it. You grab it with both hands and you do everything in your power not to let it go. You can’t just walk away from it and expect it to linger until you’re ready for it.

I must admit, I was really afraid about this book’s concept. I thought it would be difficult to connect with the characters. Well, I was wrong haha !

This book is really addicting ! I was happy to dive into another CoHo’s book. Once again, I connected easily with the story, and it was really hard when I had to put the book down.

Fallon is suffering from a huge lack of self-confidence, but she is determined to change her life for the best. Ben is living a hell of a life, but we don’t learn a lot about it until the last part of the book.

I loved all these bookish references ! The fact that Fallon is an avid reader allowed so many bookish terms. Instant love, bookish boyfriend and other book worthy kisses made me smile. These are terms we are commonly using in our reviews so it was really funny. I totally could speak like that in my everyday life (if only I had more avid readers among my friends…).
I really like it when a book acknowledges our bookish world haha !

Fallon and Ben’s story is pretty unique and their journey isn’t an easy one.

I had some issues with a particular part of the book. I didn’t see that plot twist coming and I was really shocked ! I had to put down the book (throw it on the couch, actually), and ponders about these events for a little while (stares meanly at the book). I am still not okay with it, but I think that this kind of situations tends to happen. And OMG it’s really hard to talk about it without spoilers !

Now about the final plot twist… What the hell ! I should have seen that coming but no ! Ha !
So yeah this story is full of plot twists and it makes this story even more interesting !

Characters :
I’m not gonna say much about them because it’s better if you don’t know too much while reading this book.
I just want to say that the characters’ development is really well led. Since we make a jump of a year at the beginning of each part, it’s really obvious how much they changed.

She’s not the kind of girl you choose your battles for. She’s the kind of girl you fight to the death for.

Overall :
This book played with my heart and my mind. I was heartbroken 3 or 4 times while reading it. But don’t worry it also mended it back together !
Reading a Colleen Hoover’s book is like doing sport, when it comes to my heart. It beats, pounds, stops abruptly and then it restarts.

I love her books because I know I’m in for a hell of an emotional ride ! They are always more than just another contemporary book. They always have something original.
She’s one of my auto buy authors. Her writing style is really fantastic and I keep some of her books unread because I want to have one ready whenever I’m having a reading slump. Don’t know how long I will resist before reading all of them though haha !

She “loved me” in quotations She kissed me in bold I TRIED TO KEEP HER in all caps She left with an ellipsis . . .

5 stars

  1. Great review 🙂 November 9 is on my TBR, I hope to get to it later this month. I’m glad I’m not the only one who has a “killer stare” for her books, haha!

          1. It’s better to let it out! I’m like that too, my books are my babies. But a couple of times I punished them because of how they made me feel. And I sound crazy :p

  2. I’ve read this as soon as it was released. 😍 CoHo did not disappoint! I loved it as much as I love all of her works. And I agree with the plot twist! Dang that plot twist. Always happens when you’re reading a CoHo book. 😂

  3. I just wrote my review on this book, and I’m surprised how similar our thoughts were! I’ll definitely follow to see your future posts. As for Ms. Colleen Hoover. I LOVE HER! I’m so glad I’ve found other people who enjoy her writing as much as I do. You’re smart to keep some of her books unread. I was going to wait until I was older to read some of her books since they’re all new adult and there were some concepts I couldn’t relate too, but I COULDN’T! THE DRAW WAS TOO STRONG! I’ve read almost all of them now…oops 😛
