| MEMES | TOP TEN TUESDAY – TEN BOOKS THAT EVERY BUFFY FAN SHOULD READ

TOP TEN TUESDAY

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish in June 2010. Click on their link if you want to learn more about it !

This week it was : Ten Books Every X Should Read (up to you! Examples: every history nerd, memoir lover, ballet lover, feminist, college student, etc etc.)

I chose Buffy The Vampire Slayer as theme. It was and still is my favorite TV show. Buffy is that badass and witty heroin. She also has an amazing posse, the scooby-gang.
If you liked the TV show, here are ten books you should read.

In no particular order :

Vampire AcademyVampire Academy by Richelle Mead
Rose is such a badass character. She reminds me A LOT of Buffy.
She is strong, fierce, and knows how to fight. She also can count on her friends. The whole series is really great.

bloodlinesBloodlines by Richelle Mead

Yes it’s another Richelle Mead’s series. In fact it’s the Vampire Academy’s spin off. Sydney Sage isn’t really a badass at the beginning of this series, but she learns to be one. She is smart, fierce, brilliant and cares for the others. Her posse is one of my fav.

daughter of smoke and boneDaughter Of Smoke And Bone by Laini Taylor

Karou from The Daughter Of Smoke And Bone trilogy is another amazing woman. She fights for what she believes is right, no matter how hard the situation can be for her.
And her best friend is just amazing.

Throne of glassThrone Of Glass by Sarah J. Maas

Celeana Sardothien is a hell of a badass character. She is deadly. I’ve only read ToG and CoM and will reread then soon so I can get to Heir Of Fire and The Assassin’s Blade.
She also can count on her “friends”.

succubus bluesSuccubus Blues by Richelle Mead

I know ! Another Richelle Mead’s series haha ! This was the first series from her that I’ve read. And it’s not my fault, she knows how to write great female characters. This is the French cover by the way, way more beautiful !

darkfeverDarkfever by Karen Marie Moning

Mackayla is also an interesting character. From baby doll to a badass warrior. She changed so much !
This is another french cover haha !

EllanaEllana by Pierre Bottero

I don’t think this series has been translated, which is a shame. Ellana is a “shadow walker” and therefore is able to do things that a normal body shouldn’t be able to. She is an extremely trained warrior.

The Hunger GamesThe Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

Well, not need to talk much about Katniss Everdeen, and how brave she is !

Right ?

DivergentDivergent by Veronica Roth

Tris is also another brave young woman. She is fierce and will fight to death in order to protect the ones she loves.

The Rest falls awayThe Rest Falls Away by Colleen Gleason

Victoria Gardella may be the one that is the most similar to Buffy. She’s a vampire slayer, too !
But it’s set in a different time period.

And that’s it for my very first Top Ten Tuesday !

  1. I absolutely loved watching Buffy when I was younger. The Scooby gang are just so wonderful and hilarious. I absolutely adored the Daughter of Smoke and Bone trilogy. Karou’s journey was just so brutal and heartbreaking but also so full of hope. I’ve yet to read a Richelle Mead book but I’ve heard nothing but amazing things about them.

  2. I absolutely LOVE Buffy! It’s such an amazing show. I really enjoyed the Succubus series by Richelle Mead too. They were all enjoyable reads. I just bought Darkfever in a secondhand bookshop on Monday so I’m excited after seeing it on this list!

  4. I loved watching Buffy. My fiance though started hating the show when Buffy sent Angel into Hell. I’m wanting to read the Mead books, but I haven’t yet. But I do not like the Hunger Games series. I think the third book was too rushed.
