| ON SCREEN | RURÔNI KENSHIN

RUROUNI KENSHINRurouni Kenshin
Directed by Keishi Ōtomo
Released August 25th, 2012 in Japan

I wasn’t sure I would write this post. Rurôni (or Rurouni) Kenshin is one of my favorite animes. I have watched it many years ago and I still have to read the manga.
But since it’s a movie adaptation of a manga, I finallydecided to write about it !

So it’s the movie adaptation of a manga called Rurouni Kenshin written by Nobuhiro Watsuki.

This is the story of a samourai, leaving a battlefield after a victory. He decides to give up this life, to change his name, becoming Himura Kenshin. He still wears a sword, but it’s a reverse blade.

He crosses path with Kamiya Kaoru, a dojo’s leader. She mistakes him for another person. Meanwhile, a killer usurping Kenshin’s old identity is leaving a trail of corpses behind him.

I was gladly surprised to see how much the actors were looking alike the manga’s characters. It’s really astonishing !
The story is really faithful to the manga ! They made a really aesthetic movie, very beautiful.
The movie is fast paced and even if you haven’t read the manga or watched the anime, it’s easy to understand the background story.

So if you want to watch a gorgeous samouraï movie, it’s the perfect pick !
