It Ends With Us

If you haven’t read this book, I’d advise not to read the synopsis, because it’s better to start it without knowing too much !
Synopsis : Sometimes it is the one who loves you who hurts you the most.
Lily hasn’t always had it easy, but that’s never stopped her from working hard for the life she wants. She’s come a long way from the small town in Maine where she grew up—she graduated from college, moved to Boston, and started her own business. So when she feels a spark with a gorgeous neurosurgeon named Ryle Kincaid, everything in Lily’s life suddenly seems almost too good to be true.
Ryle is assertive, stubborn, maybe even a little arrogant. He’s also sensitive, brilliant, and has a total soft spot for Lily. And the way he looks in scrubs certainly doesn’t hurt. Lily can’t get him out of her head. But Ryle’s complete aversion to relationships is disturbing. Even as Lily finds herself becoming the exception to his “no dating” rule, she can’t help but wonder what made him that way in the first place.
As questions about her new relationship overwhelm her, so do thoughts of Atlas Corrigan—her first love and a link to the past she left behind. He was her kindred spirit, her protector. When Atlas suddenly reappears, everything Lily has built with Ryle is threatened.
It’s gonna be really hard to review this book ! Colleen Hoover is one of my favorite authors and it’s really difficult to put into words how much her books mean to me ! Needless to say, this book was one of my most anticipated releases for 2016 !
First, I’d advise to start it without knowing too much : it’s the best way to read it !
I feel like everyone fakes who they are, when deep down we’re all equal amounts of screwed up. Some of us are just better at hiding it than others
Plot
I really loved this book ! This one is really different from her other books, it’s still a romance, but there’s less romance. It deals with really important topics. I was so easily judging this kind of situations, but this book made light on that. I understand now. Nothing is just black or white.
This book is brave and bold. It was sometimes difficult for me to breathe while reading it. Even though I haven’t been through events like this, it was pretty easy to share the characters’ feelings. It’s raw, powerful. It’s honest, it’s real. I think there are not enough books dealing with this topic.
The title was so well chosen ! I choked on my own tears when I found that sentence in the book ! It’s everything, really !
Also I find the cover art particularly clever ! As always in her books, everything is so well thought.
The flashbacks were delivered in such an original way.
There is no such thing as bad people. We’re all just people who sometimes do bad things.
One of the things I liked the most in the book is the friendship between Lily and Allysa ! They make a hell of a team ! They support each other, no matter what.
It’s an amazing book but it was a difficult read ! I cried a little less for some of her other books, but my heart was roughed, broken while reading it ! And I still cried a lot ! But I also smiled a lot and laughed !
This book was so different from everything Colleen Hoover has written before. It’s her most personal one, she delivers a part of her life with this book. The note at the end of the book finished the work : I was a total mess when I closed it !
Naked truths aren’t always pretty.
Characters
- Lily Bloom is such an incredible person. She puts the well being and happiness of her loved ones before hers. That’s why she is willing to endure so much. She loves with all her heart, all the fibers of her body ! Even the final decision she made was more for the person she cares the most.
But she is also one of the strongest person I’ve ever read about. It takes a lot to deal with all this the way she did, it’s quite amazing ! And despite all that happened I really admire how she took control of her life, multiple times ! - Ryle, it’s really hard not to fall for him and find him excuses, just like Lily did. He is a really complex character. And he loves Lily so much ! He had to deal with his lot, too. He is the perfect man, caring, funny and a brilliant surgeon. But even a good man can make bad things.
- Atlas is such a swoon worthy man ! He’s always there when Lily needs him. He loves her so much, it’s almost painful to witness ! But he is careful not to cross a certain line.
- Allysa is the bestest best friend ! I won’t tell much because it would spoil but she is a real support for Lily.
Just because we didn’t end up on the same wave, doesn’t mean we aren’t still a part of the same ocean.
Naked truth ? I LOVED it. If you haven’t read a CoHo book yet, it’s this one you should pick !
Fantastic review, you completely convinced me to add this book to my TBR right now… ❤
