“YOUR MAJESTY, THIS IS A MAGIC SUIT” – An overhyped book that promised to be *something more*

Okay, don’t yell at me please. But The Book Thief was a DNF for me.
I was expecting SO MUCH of this book !

And yet, the POV was too cold for my taste…That’s why I decided to put it down and I never picked it up again !
Nonetheless, I know this is a greatly loved book.

 

“SOMEBODY SEND FOR THE QUEEN” – A love interest that wasn’t called for

Zedd, in the After series by Anna Todd.
Seriously, guy, when did you think you had any chance ?!

I really LOVED this series, but this love interest, nah.
Which reminds me that I need to read Nothing More ! It’s a my September TBR.

“THE DOUBLET IS A LOVELY SHADE OF GREEN” – A book that seduced you with its cover (that you ended up disliking)

Fallen by Lauren Kate. Well maybe not the first book. I bought itbecause of the gothic vibes on the cover. I bought the sequels and I even finished reading the whole series. But to be honest I kind of forced myself to do it. I wasn’t enjoying it anymore !

“SUMMON THE COURT TO CONVENE” – A book where you were swayed by public opinion

 

I have to make the same answer than Kat : Twilight by Stephenie Meyer.
I LOVED these books when I read it many yeas ago. And I still love it. But I wouldn’t dare reread it now because my opinion would be tainted by all the negative things I read and heard about this series.

So yep.

 

“LOOK AT THE THE KING! LOOK AT THE KING, THE KING, THE KING!” – A stark raving mad book that just boggles the mind

Vicious by V.E. Schwab.
I won’t talk about this book, but you know my love for this book, or at least I hope you do !

It’s an unique read and I can only highly recommend it !

 

“IT’S ALTOGETHER THE VERY LEAST THE KING HAS EVER WORN” – A tropey get up you’ve seen before that probably needs redressing (aka a trope you’re bored with seeing)

The love triangle. blah. Unless it’s particularly well written, it bores the hell out of me now.

“SUMMON THE COURT PHYSICIAN! CALL AN INTERMISSION!” – A book that needs medical attention aka a rewrite

Maybe Fallen by Lauren Kate.

“IT’S ALTOGETHER THE VERY LEAST THE KING HAS EVER WORN” –  There’s no hiding for this one: a book that is just nakedly bad

I don’t have a specific book in mind for that one !

BONUS: “HIS MAJESTY IS WIDE OPEN TO RIDICULE AND SCORN”- Something (anything) that astounds you with its popularity

I mean I like it too, but it’s too much, on every radio, everytime ! Stop it already, summer is over hahaha !

Hello lovelies !! I know I haven’t posted this last week ! I am so sorry but I was so exhausted that I haven’t been able to blog when I went home after work. Anyway, a few months Kat from Lifeandotherdisasters tagged me to do the This is my genre, tell me yous book tag.
Let’s start this !

1. WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE GENRE ?

Well it’s very difficult to narrow it to one genre but based on the books I’ve read, I’d say Fantasy.

2. WHO’S YOUR FAVOURITE AUTHOR FROM THE GENRE ?

Also difficult to narrow it to just one author. So here is my top 3 !
V.E. Schwab, Cassandra Clare and Sarah J. Maas !

3. WHAT IS IT ABOUT THE GENRE THAT KEEPS PULLING YOU BACK ?

I do enjoy reading contemporary books too but there’s a special thing about Fantasy. My mind is entirely elsewhere. I am fully immersed in the book’s world and that’s such an amazing experience ! It’s… addicting. It’s difficult to put this feeling into words !

4. WHAT’S THE BOOK THAT STARTED YOUR LOVE FOR YOUR FAVOURITE GENRE ?

I used to love Buffy The Vampire Slayer (still does !) and there were a lot of books. I’ve owned (and therefore read) like 40 of these. I think they are some of my firsts fantasy books.

5. IF YOU HAD TO RECOMMEND AT LEAST ONE BOOK FROM YOUR FAVOURITE GENRE TO A NON-READER/SOMEONE LOOKING TO START READING THAT GENRE, WHAT BOOK WOULD YOU CHOOSE AND WHY ?

A Darker Shade Of Magic by V.E. Schwab ! It’s such an innovative fantasy book !
It’s original, brilliant, quirky, and so well written !
It’s the first book of a trilogy and I can only recommend to read these 3 books because I know they’re totally worth it ! It’s an adult book, not a Young Adult one but I think everyone can read it and appreciate it !

6. WHY DO YOU READ ?

That’s my own bubble of happiness. I love my life, don’t get me wrong. But I enjoying spending time on my own, reading a good book while sipping tea or coffee. It’s relaxing and helps me to turn off my brain, you know ?

Plus, I don’t live just one life. I’m living a thousand ones !

1. A popular book or series you didn’t like

The Book Thief by Markus Zusak which was a DNF for me.

Yeah, I know I know, everyone seems to love it. Well, not me.
The POV was too cold, too impersonal for my liking.

The story I found interesting though.

 

2. A popular book or series that everyone else seems to hate but you love.

The Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer.

I first read it when I was a teen and I loved it so much ! I reread it multiple times since then and I still enjoy it !

I haven’t read it in the past 3 years or so so maybe I would enjoy it less than I used to, who knows !

3. A love triangle where the main character ended up with the person you did NOT want them to end up with (warn people for spoilers) OR an OTP that you don’t like.

Up until today, It didn’t happen !

 

4. A popular genre that you hardly reach for.

Biography, autobiography, books written by actors, these kind of books.

 

5. A popular or beloved character that you do not like.

I am currently reading A Court Of Mist And Fury by Sarah J. Maas and let’s say that right now, I’m not really carrying him in my heart, if you know what I mean !

I know it’s the Unpopular opinion, but I had to talk about this book ! I am currently obsessed with this trilogy haha !

6. A popular author that you can’t seem to get into.

Hmm… I don’t think it ever happened.

7. A popular book trope that you’re tired of seeing.

The chosen one. With his faithful trope. I’ve read this story so many times ! So it needs to b very well written or with an original element in order for me to enjoy it.

8. A popular series that you have no interest in reading..

The Fifty Shades series by E. L. James.

I know “Never say never” but I’m really not interested in reading this series.
And I am not interested in watching the movies neither. Not if I can avoid it !

 

9. The saying goes “The book is always better than the movie”, but what movie or T.V. show adaptation do you prefer more than the book?

That’s a tough one ! Hmmm…. Oh I know ! Game of Thrones !

BELLE – A BOOK YOUR BOUGHT FOR IT’S BEAUTIFUL COVER THAT’S JUST AS BEAUTIFUL INSIDE TOO

Six Of Crows by Leigh Bardugo.

I marathoned the Grisha trilogy so I could read the Six Of Crows duology. I was really attracted by this stunning cover !
Seriously, look at it !
But the book ended being totally worth the hype ! One of my favorite reads for 2016 !!

BEAST – A BOOK YOU DIDN’T EXPECT MUCH FROM BUT PLEASANTLY SURPRISED YOU

After by Anna Todd, and the whole series !
I only picked up this book because I was to meet her again and I wanted to read at least one of her books before ! Well, I was positively surprised ! It’s far from being perfect, but I really enjoyed it ! I grew obsessed with the After series while reading it !

Now I need to buy the Landon duology !

GASTON – A BOOK EVERYONE LOVES THAT YOU DON’T

LEFOU – A LOYAL SIDEKICK YOU CAN’T HELP BUT LOVE MORE THAN THEIR COUNTER PART

Iko, from Cinder by Marissa Meyer. I can’t tell you how much I love Iko !
She is so funny, and loyal ! I think she has the best quotes !
But don’t get me wrong, I do love Cinder too !
It’s just that the sidekick character in this book is THAT awesome !!!

I am currently reading Cress, the third book in The Lunar Chronicles series and enjoying it so far !

MRS. POTT, CHIP, LUMIER & COGSWORTH – A BOOK THAT HELPED YOU THROUGH A DIFFICULT TIME OR THAT TAUGHT YOU SOMETHING VALUABLE

Me Before You by Jojo Moyes. This book, oh this book guys ! It opened my eyes on so many important things !

I realized that I needed to live my life at its best and enjoy every minute of it ! It’s such a wonderful read !
I highly recommend it if you haven’t read it already  !

“SOMETHING THERE” – A BOOK OR A SERIES THAT YOU WEREN’T INTO AT FIRST BUT PICKED UP TOWARDS THE END

The Falling Kingdoms series by Morgan Rhodes. I wasn’t really planning on buying it but I kept seeing these books everywhere and I got intrigued !
I still need to buy Crystal Storm that came out back in December though !
But I’m really enjoying this series so far ! I even read the first two books in the spin-off series, Spirits and Thieves !
It’s such a great world, so well built and the characters are really interesting !

“BE OUR GUEST” – A FICTIONAL CHARACTER YOU’D LOVE TO HAVE OVER FOR DINNER

I got the boxset and these hardbacks are AMAZING !!! Gorgeous, pieces of art !!

| WRAP UP & TBR | SEPTEMBER 2016 TBR

 

Hello lovelies ! Here is my September TBR ! I know September will be an hectic month for me so I don’t plan on reading a lot of books ! Here are the 4 books I’m planning on reading this month !

• After We Collided by Anna Todd. I am currently reading that one, I started it at the end of August !
• Rule, the first book in the Marked Men series, by Jay Crownover. This is the French version.
• Slammed, by Colleen Hoover.
• The Darkest Magic by Morgan Rhodes, the second book in the Spirits And Thieves series !

I’m waiting for After We Fell to be delivered so I’ll try to read that one too ! At the end of the month, I’m going to a French book festival called the Festival New Romance. I’ll get to meet a lot of authors, especially Anna Todd and Colleen Hoover that I’ve already met a few months ago !

In my opinion, it’s the perfect fantasy book.

 

 

Gluehwein – a really spicy, wintry read.

I couldn’t think of any other book for that one !
I think it matches perfectly the description above hahaha !

 

 

Sauvignon Blanc – a really sharp and aggressive read that you couldn’t put down!

An Ember In The Ashes by Sabaa Tahir

It was such a page turner, I couldn’t put it down ! When I had to (because, you know, work), the story stayed with me !

 

 

Pinot Noir – a book you didn’t expect much from but ended up getting blown away!

Lux : Beginnings by Jennifer L. Armentrout

I wasn’t sure I would like this series. But I am really glad I picked it ! It’s such an addictive read !

Chardonnay – a good summer read that was super-zesty?

Anna And The French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins

It’s the perfect summer read ! Cute, fluffy and well written !
Also can I sat that I LOVE Chardonnay ? haha !

 

 

Rose – a book that has a little bit of everything in it.

Falling Kingdoms by Morgan Rhodes

This series has a bit of everything ! It’s such a great series !
I can’t wait to get the fifth book !

Shiraz – A full-bodied book that is dark and juicy

DarkFever by Karen Marie Moning

This is an amazing series, really darker than I thought when I bought the first book ! It’s one of my favorite urban fantasy series !

 

 

Merlot – a smooth easy read with a soft finish.

Isla And The Happily Ever After by Stephanie Perkins

It’s the perfect happily ever after you could wish for ! I adored this book !

We need more books like this haha !

Hello everyone ! It has been a long time since I posted a tag ! Which  means I have a lot of catch up to do ! Months ago Jesse @ booksatdawn tagged me to do the Friends book tag ! Friends is still one of my favorite TV show !

Since I’m always trying my best to avoid spoilers, you should look at the pictures before reading. If you haven’t read the book, skip to the next paragraph okay ?

The One Where Eddie Won’t Go – a character I wish would just go away:

The Commandant from An Ember In The Ashes by Sabaa Tahir.

I’m not gonna say too much because well… spoilers, but seriously I can’t stand this character.

Cruelty is, in my opinion, unforgivable.

The One Where Ross and Rachel Take A Break – favorite break up scene:

Beware : spoiler alert !!

So for this one, I had difficulties to pick one but let’s say the Malec’s one. It was so painful, even though it was logic, and meant to happen. If you’ve read The Mortal Instruments series, you know what I mean haha !

 

The One With All The Kissing – a book with lots of kissing:

November 9 by Colleen Hoover

Yep. Lot of kissing involved. But it’s the case for most of the New Adults books !

 

 

The Last One – favorite series finale:

Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare

Always & forever !
This is my favorite trilogy and this finale is… everything ! It’s perfect, really !

 

The One With a Blackout – a scene I’d like to forget:

I’ll go with one special scene in The Final Empire by Brandon Sanderson, which is the first book in the Mistborn series.

It’s not really a scene I’d like to forget but it really broke my heart.

 

 

The One Where Chandler Can’t Cry – a book that did not make you as emotional as others:

The Book Thief by Markus Zusak.

This is a DNF book for me, unfortunately !
But I know a lot of people loved it !

 

 

The One Where Joey Doesn’t Share Food:- a book you won’t ever lend:

HAHAHA. I don’t lend books. The last time I did it, the so called friend didn’t give them back. I won’t make the same mistake again !

The One With the Thumb – a recent read that you would give two thumbs up to:

Me Before You by Jojo Moyes

This book changed my vision of life. It’s really cheesy to say so but it’s true.
I related so much to these characters and situations. It’s an incredible story!

It will stay in my top 5 for a long long time !

 

The One With the Ick Factor – a book with a pet peeve:

House Of Night by P.C. Cast & Kristin Cast

I’m trying to finish the series but it’s less and less interesting and mainly focusing on love stories…

 

The One With The Lesbian Wedding – favorite LGBTQ book couple:

Vanyel and Tylendel from Valdemar : The Last Herald-Mage by Mercedes Lackey.

I read this book many years ago but it was so beautifully written and interesting. Their love story is magnificent !
By the way, this is the French cover. This book was published by Bragelonne.
