Hello lovelies ! It’s time for another TTT ! Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke And The Bookish ! This is the last one until mid August !

Anyway, this week’s theme is the best books I’ve read in 2017 so far ! I haven’t read that many books these past 6 months so I’m gonna narrow it to a top 5 !

In no particular order :

  • A Court Of Mist And Fury by Sarah J. Maas. It’s the second book in the A Court Of Thorns And Roses trilogy. I loved it so much and I can tell it’s my favorite read of the year ! This book is AMAZING !!
  • Melody’s Key by Dallas Coryell. I realized I have only read this contemporary but I really loved it !
  • A Torch Against The Night by Sabaa Tahir, sequel to An Ember In The Ashes !!! This book is fantastic !
  • The Winner’s Crime by Marie Rutkoski. I finished this book last week and I really enjoyed it ! The plot is so complex and intricate ! I cannot wait the read the final ook in the Winner’s trilogy !
  • A Conjuring Of Light by V.E. Schwab. It’s the final book in the Shades Of Magic trilogy ! I’m cheating a little here since I haven’t finished reading it yet, but I’m LOVING it so far and I know it totally deserves its place in my top 5 !

That’s it ! Now it’s time to say goodbye to TTT until mid August ! What are the best books you’ve read in 2017 so far ?!

A Court Of Winfs and Ruin

A Court Of Wings And Ruin
Author : Sarah J. Maas
Series : A Court Of Thorns And Roses
Genres : Fantasy, High Fantasy, New Adult
Publication : May 2nd 2017 by Bloomsbury USA Childrens

This is the final book in a trilogy. This review contains spoilers for the two previous books.

Synopsis : A nightmare, I’d told Tamlin. I was the nightmare.

Feyre has returned to the Spring Court, determined to gather information on Tamlin’s maneuverings and the invading king threatening to bring Prythian to its knees. But to do so she must play a deadly game of deceit—and one slip may spell doom not only for Feyre, but for her world as well. As war bears down upon them all, Feyre must decide who to trust amongst the dazzling and lethal High Lords—and hunt for allies in unexpected places.

I really loved this book ! Even though I have to be honest, ACOMAF is still my favorite of this trilogy !

Only you can decide what breaks you, Cursebreaker. Only you.

I was really afraid of this book, of how this journey would end. I adored the previous book, A Court Of Mist And Fury, and I was afraid of being disappointed by this finale.
The first part of this book is very similar to ACOMAF’s : taking place at the Spring Court and slow paced. But this time Feyre is playing a dangerous game of deceit.

If ACOMAF was more about Feyre’s journey and somehow more focused on the romance, ACOWAR is way more plot-centered. It’s less focused on the characters this time.

Night Triumphant- and the Stars Eternal.

I have so much to say about this book but I can’t because of spoilers ! How frustrating is that ! Anyway, this book was a roller coaster for my emotions ! I don’t know how Sarah J. Maas does this magic, but EVERYTIME I grow so attached to her characters ! It’s almost painful.
The plot is amazing, the author has crafted an intricate story that leads to these fabulous last 200 pages.

It’s terribly gripping and I really enjoyed the bonds, the relationships between the characters (old and new). It’s an addictive read and I had so many difficulties to leave the world when closing the book.

Nonetheless, there are a few things, two actually, that bothered me a little. First, it’s how much the word “mate” was hammered. I mean, we got it, there was no need to repeat it so many times !
Secondly, I was slightly disappointed with the final battle. I don’t know if this book is still considered YA or not (I would say the latter, regarding some scenes haha) but it was too “gentle” for my taste. Again, spoilers.

The stakes are much so much higher in this book !  I really enjoyed how the story wrapped and I cannot wait to find out who Maas will focus her next book on.

My rage had become a living thing inside my chest, an echoing heartbeat that soothed me to sleep and stirred me to waking.

  • Feyre is darker, deadlier but also more poised, more mature. She knows who she is, who her family is and what she’s capable of, especially to protect her loved ones. I really love her as a character. She is fierce, sometimes reckless but she has such a beautiful soul.
  • Rhysand is my precious baby ! He is definitively bookish boyfriend material. Kind of perfect. Devoted, kind, selfless and never deciding for the others.
  • Lucien surprised me in this book. I had pity for him, at times. He is in a delicate situation.
  • Tamlin changed so much, where is the lovely Tamlin from the first book ?! It’s difficult not to hate him !
  • Nesta is also another kick-ass woman ! I really enjoyed her banters with Cassian !
  • Amren is such a treasure. So deadly powerful, I know, but I can’t help but find her cute ! Her reactions can be so adorable !

It’s difficult to talk about every character, especially while avoiding spoilers so I’m gonna end it here.

Overall this trilogy will stay in my top 5 for a long long time !

5 stars

Last week I was reading The Winner’s Crime by Marie Rutkoski. It’s the second book in the Winner’s trilogy ! I finished it two days ago and really loved it ! It’ s a 5 stars for me !

I am currently reading A Conjuring Of Light by V.E Schwab ! It’s the final book in  the Shades Of Magic trilogy ! FINALLY ! I am equally excited and scared to see how this epic story will end !

Next I’ll probably pick I’ll Give You The Sun by Jandy Nelson ! I’m more in a fantasy kick, but I will probably need a “rest” after ACOL !

That’s it ! What are you currently reading lovelies ?

Hello lovelies ! It’s time for another TTT ! Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and The Bookish.

I decide to slightly twist today’s topic : Top Ten Series I’ve Been Meaning To buy But Haven’t

You know how it is, right ? It’s impossible to buy all the books we would like to. And to be honest, I wouldn’t know where to put them, I would need a much bigger flat haha !

Stolen Songbird is the first book in the Malediction trilogy. This series has been nagging at me for some time now ! I need to buy it ASAP !

The Poison Study by Maria V. Snyder is the first book in the Study series and I heard so many great things about it !!

The Young Elites by Marie Lu. I still need to read her other trilogy first !

Talon by Julie Kagawa. I’ve read her series The Iron Feys and I really enjoyed it so I really want to give this series a shot !

The Darkest Minds trilogy and Passenger duology by Alexandra Bracken. I’ve never read anything from this author but I heard great things about her work !

That’s it ! A top 6, not because there are only 6 series I want to buy but because right now there’s nothing else coming to my mind. But be sure there are plenty more !

A Torch Against The NightA Torch Against The Night
Author : Sabaa Tahir
Series : An Ember In The Ashes
Genres : Fantasy, Young Adult
Publication : August 30th 2016 by Razorbill

Synopsis : Elias and Laia are running for their lives. After the events of the Fourth Trial, Martial soldiers hunt the two fugitives as they flee the city of Serra and undertake a perilous journey through the heart of the Empire.

Laia is determined to break into Kauf—the Empire’s most secure and dangerous prison—to save her brother, who is the key to the Scholars’ survival. And Elias is determined to help Laia succeed, even if it means giving up his last chance at freedom.

But dark forces, human and otherworldly, work against Laia and Elias. The pair must fight every step of the way to outsmart their enemies: the bloodthirsty Emperor Marcus, the merciless Commandant, the sadistic Warden of Kauf, and, most heartbreaking of all, Helene—Elias’s former friend and the Empire’s newest Blood Shrike.

Bound to Marcus’s will, Helene faces a torturous mission of her own—one that might destroy her: find the traitor Elias Veturius and the Scholar slave who helped him escape…and kill them both.

I’ve read this book back in January and just wrote  the review, so it’s gonna be shorter than usual !

So long as you fight the darkness, you stand in the light.

It’s the sequel to An Ember In The Ashes that I LOVED. And this sequel didn’t disappoint ! It starts right where AEITA finished. Laia and Elias are on the run while Helene tries her best to be the perfect Blood Shrike she’s expected to be.

I really enjoyed this book ! There’s a dash of supernatural and it’s a great addition ! This book is fast paced and so nerve-wracking ! The stakes are so much higher in this book. And it’s even more sinister than the first book.

Death, love, epic journey, plot twists ; I enjoyed ever minute of this epic ride !

Another thing I really enjoyed is Helene’s POV. I didn’t really like her in the first book, she was annoying, in my opinion. With this installment, I learned to appreciate her. She’s such a great character !

Your emotions make you human. Even the unpleasant ones have a purpose. Don’t lock them away. If you ignore them, they just get louder and angrier.

I also loved learning more about the world ! The world-building is really great. I was kind of afraid of reading this book to be honest. I really loved An Ember In The Ashes and I was afraid I wouldn’t enjoy this one that much. But it didn’t suffer from the “second book syndrome” at all !

The plot twists really surprised me ! Really, I was on the edge on my seat while reading this book ! Really nerve-wracking as I said earlier ! I must confess, some parts kind of crept me out !

Failure doesn’t define you. It’s what you do after you fail that determines whether you are a leader or a waste of perfectly good air.

  • Elias is so selfless ! It’s almost unbelievable how devoted he is to Laia and her mission, saving her brother.
  • Helene musts face loads and loads of dilemma now. I think I understand her more now. Her POV is very interesting ! Her situation, the choices she has to make, it’s unbearable. And yet she resists.
  • Laia, I liked her less than in the previous book. She is still stubborn and dedicated to her mission, but she lacks her fierceness at times ! Nevertheless I really enjoyed what we learned about her !

I won’t say more for two reasons : the first one, the obvious one is because I want to avoid spoilers. The other is that I read it months ago and that my memories are fading haha !

5 stars

Don’t lock yourself away from those who care about you because you think you’ll hurt them or they’ll hurt you. What point is there in being human if you don’t let yourself feel anything?

I totally recommend this book !

Hello lovelies ! It’s time for my not so small May book haul ! I bought more books than I usually planned to…

  • A Court Of Wings And Ruin by Sarah J. Maas. Third and final book in the A Court Of Thorns And Roses trilogy. I have started this series back in April so I cannot really say that it’s one of my most anticipated releases for this year but… and after all I’ll say it : even though I’ve only started this trilogy a few weeks before ACOWAR’s release, it’s one of my most anticipated releases nonetheless !
  • The Lost Hero by Rick Riordan, the first book in The Heroes Of Olympus series ! It’s a Percy Jackson And The Olympians’ spin off series and I cannot wait to dive back into this world !
  • The Son Of Neptune by Rick Riordan, second book in The Heroes Of Olympus series
  • The Mark Of Athena, third book in the same series !
