This is the final book in the After series. And what a challenge it was for my little heart ! This book is just like the previous one : a roller coaster for my emotions !

Plot
In this final installment, Tessa is moving on. Hardin abandoned her once again. But something triggers his come back. Don’t worry, I’m not gonna spoil you !
Hardin realizes that his self-loathing is costing him the woman he loves.
The roles are inverted : now Hardin is chasing Tessa. He wants to prove her that he is the love of her life, that he is worthy of her love and her trust. And I have to be honest : I enjoyed seeing him grovel ! It was nice to witness a change in their dynamic. Somehow it was really ironic !
When he finally wants to invest himself fully in their relationship, Tessa gives up on them !
Until the very end you can’t guess if they’re gonna end together or not ! And what an exquisite torture it was ! I was terrified for the ending ! You can only wish for it to be an happy one ! I wanted so badly to disconnect from the reality, to stay focused on their story ! I even cheated a little at one point : I read the final page… I know I know ! Shame on me and shame on my cow !
I think the jumps in time where necessary to bring a feeling of closure to their epic journey.Something else is also revealed, something Hardin was trying to hide from Tessa. I was positively surprised !
You won’t know how lucky you are to be able to spend your life with the other half of your soul until you have to spend your life without them.
When I started this series I couldn’t have guesses that I would be obsessed with Hessa while reading it !I am so glad I decided to pick After before meeting Anna Todd for the second time at the New Romance Festival !
This is the perfect ending to an amazing and engrossing series. I was constantly on the edge of my seat during all my read !
Characters
- Tessa worried the hell out of me in this book. First, she is destroyed by Hardin’s reject. And then she had to witness the unthinkable. She struggles to find the will to keep going on ! But living in New York with Landon is helping her.
- Hardin changed and I love the “new” Hardin. He changed totally ! He is trying to fix all the things and people he has broken, particularly Tessa. He wants to win her back, no matter what !
I love the angsty, broody Hardin but I think I love that version of him even more ! - Zedd is really worse than I thought. He manipulated Tessa and she was so blind to it !

ANNA TODD is a first-time writer spending her days in the Austin area with her husband, with whom she beat half the statistics by getting married one month after graduating high school. Between her husband’s three deployments to Iraq, she worked odd jobs from a makeup counter to the IRS processing counter.
