SUMMER / BEACH READS

summer reads

Hello lovelies ! I missed yesterday’s TTT, so I decided to do a post about it anyway ! In Summer, I tend to read more romance books ! So yeah, be prepared !

The Islanders by Katherine Applegate is a series that I really really loved ! It’s about a bunch of teens living on a small island. Their posse, the relationships, the plot, the writing style… everything about this series I absolutely adored !

The Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon. I’ve only read the first two books but I can picture myself reading it wrapped in a comfy blanket, sipping tea or on my balcony, while drinking iced tea !

Archer’s Voice by Mia Sheridan is a wonderful contemporary read but I wouldn’t bring it to the beach with me you know ? I’m not a fan of crying in public hahaha !

Amy & Roger’s Epic Detour by Morgan Matson feels like a summer holiday. It’s about a road trip, and there are playlists ! Yep, definitively holidays !

Anna And The French Kiss and its two companion novels by Stephanie Perkins is the cutest read you could ever find ! Perfect for the Summer !

The After series by Anna Todd is far from being your usual romance read ! And it’s another book I wouldn’t bring to the beach with me ! I was obsessed with this series, I was so hard to put the book down !

It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover is an eye-opener book ! It’s far from being a light read, but I loved it so much. It can be said for all CoHo’s books though.

The Air He Breathes by Brittainy C. Cherry, another powerful romance ! The perfect summer read !

That’s it ! Have you read any of these books ?

top-ten-tuesday

Hello lovelies ! It’s that time again ! I know I haven’t been posting a lot lately but I’m in the process of moving out ! So… basically I’m super busy haha !

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke And The Bookish ! Today’s topic is : All About Books You Read Because of Recommendation.
I decided to do the top ten books that I read/bought because of recommendation.

Let’s start !

First, the romance/contemporary books.
Cindy from Lespetitsmotsdeci recommended two of these : Maybe Someday  by Colleen Hoover and Archer’s Voice by Mia Sheridan. I am so glad she recommended me these, especially Maybe Someday !!! It holds a special place in my heart ! I also read after because a lot of bloggers/bookstagrammers (including my dear Sharon from bookishgirl89) and I really don’t regret it haha !

These fantasy books I read because of booktubers ! Daughter Of Smoke And Bones by Laini Taylor was because of Katytastic ! Vicious  & The Archived by Victoria Schwab are because of Jessethereader. And Throne Of Glass by Sarah J. Maas is because of many booktubers haha !

These 3 books are on my TBR, waiting for me to make time to read them ! I bought them because I heard great things about them  !
First, Les Fiancés De L’Hiver by Christelle Dabos was also recommended by Cindy from Lespetitsmotsdeci and I can’t wait to start it ! 2 weeks ago I was at the New Romance festival and I got to meet a lot of romance authors. I bought The Air He Breathes by Brittainy C. Cherry and Beautiful Bastard by Christina Lauren because other bloggers attending the event recommended them to me !

That’s it ! What’s the top ten books that you read because of recommendation ?

| FRANGLISH REVIEW | ARCHER’S VOICE BY MIA SHERIDAN

Archer's VoiceArcher’s Voice
Author : Mia Sheridan
Genres : contemporary, romance, Erotica
Publication : January 25th 2014 by Createspace
February 4th 2016 by Hugo New Romance

This is the first post in a new category : Franglish  book review ! In a post I will review a book both in English and French !

I was sent this book by the French publisher Hugo Roman in exchange for an honest review !

Synopsis : When Bree Prescott arrives in the sleepy, lakeside town of Pelion, Maine, she hopes against hope that this is the place where she will finally find the peace she so desperately seeks. On her first day there, her life collides with Archer Hale, an isolated man who holds a secret agony of his own. A man no one else sees.

Archer’s Voice is the story of a woman chained to the memory of one horrifying night and the man whose love is the key to her freedom. It is the story of a silent man who lives with an excruciating wound and the woman who helps him find his voice. It is the story of suffering, fate, and the transformative power of love.

I heard a lot of great things about this book, so I was really eager to finally start it ! And although I overall enjoyed it, I have mixed feelings.

Plot

I really enjoyed this story, it’s pretty original. The main storyline is somehow basic but it works perfectly, thanks to the two main characters.
The first part is full of mystery. I wanted to learn more.
It’s also really touching. I found it cute and fluffy at times. And let’s not forget it, it was also extremely steamy and hot !

I lost my heart to you. And, Bree, in case you’re wondering, I don’t ever want it back.

It made me crave for more. I really wanted to learn everything about Bree and Archer, and their past. It’s brilliantly written because you get to know about their past by small pieces.

The landscape is really pleasant ! I am a city girl, trust me on that but the way Pellion was described made me want to go and stay for a while. It has the charm of a small town, near a lake, calm. And the people seems really nice, at least for most of them !

But I also got some issues with this book : the writing style. Here’s the matter : I read it in French so I don’t know if it’s due to the translation or to the author’s style. I found it somehow awful at times, and some parts were cringe-worthy in my opinion. But as I said, I read it in French and I haven’t read that kind of books in French for a long time ! So maybe it’s because I’m not used to this writing style in French !

Characters

I really enjoyed the characters’ development ! The two main characters changed so much. Together they’re stronger, they learn to trust themselves and that’s wonderful to witness.

I really enjoyed reading about Archer’s particularity and how Bree showed him that it doesn’t mean he had to live alone. It was interesting because I wasn’t realizing how difficult it could be.

Maybe there was no right or wrong, no black or white, only a thousand shades of gray when it came to pain and what we each held ourselves responsible for.

I wish that we got to see more of the other characters, especially Bree’s sweet neighbor.

Overall I really enjoyed this book.
It shows that it’s important to treat people with disabilities as you treat everyone else, and that they shouldn’t be put aside because of their disability. That it’s our duty to help them feel part of the society.

| BOOK HAUL | MY MAY 2016 BOOK HAUL

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Hello everyone ! Today I’m bringing you my May book haul ! I am trying to keep my TBR under 40 books… Which means that I’m trying my best to be reasonable… This month I went a little crazy when it came to book buying… my TBR is more around the 50 books now haha. I got a total of 8 books this month, including an e book (well, more novellas but I consider it as the bind up !)

physical copies :

  • Comme Convenu by Laurel is a French comic I preordered many months ago !
  • Archer’s Voice by Mia Sheridan. The French publisher, Hugo New Romance kindly sent it to me ! I cannot wait to read this one !
  • The Islanders vol.2 by Katherine Applegate
  • Shadow And Bone by Leigh Bardugo. I heard so many great things about this series ! I can’t wait to dive into the Grisha universe !
  • Siege And Storm which is the second book in the Grisha trilogy !
  • Hopeless by Colleen Hoover. A Coho’s book, what else ?
  • The Winner’s Crime by Marie Rutkoski which is the second book in the Winner’s trilogy. I really enjoyed the first book !
  • The Star-Touched Queen by Roshani Chokski. I’ve got my eyes on this one for a long time but Lola’s review and the author’s interview convinced me to buy it ASAP !

E book :

I bought the Tales From The Shadowhunter Academy by Cassandra Clare, Sarah Rees Brennan, Maureen Johnson & Robin Wasserman. I actually read it in May too. My review will be up this week, hopefully haha !

I bought Shadow And Bone and Siege And Storm via BookoutletFR, on Amazon. I am so GLAD there’s a way for us Frenchies to buy from BookOutlet !! But at the moment their Amazon shop is closed… I hope it won’t last long !

That’s it ! Not bad for a haul, right ?! Hopefully I’ll buy less book in June !

| WRAP UP & TBR | JUNE 2016 TBR

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Hello lovelies ! How was your week ? Mine was pretty normal. I wish I had more time to read though.

Anyway, here’s my June TBR ! It’s a pretty ambitious one, to be honest ! So without further ado, here it is !

  • Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare, FINALLY. I finished the Tales From The Shadowhunter Academy at the beginning of the week. So now I can dive into this hefty book !
  • Crown Of Midnight by Sarah J. Maas, which will be a reread.
  • The Assassin’s Blade also by Sarah J. Maas.  Last month I started rereading this series so I would have all the events fresh in my mind when reading this novellas bind up.
  • Les Enchantements d’Anbremer, the first book in a French series called Le Paris Des Merveilles by Pierre Pevel.
  • Archer’s Voice by Mia Sheridan. This is the French edition, that Hugo New Romance, the French publisher kindly sent me.
  • The Gift by Cecelia Ahern, also in French.

I am still currently reading Days Of Throbbing Gristle by Kevin Cole. It’s an interesting book but the vocabulary is more complicated, as far as I’m concerned. That’s why it’s taking me so long to read it.

And that’s it ! What’s on your June TBR ?
