Today’s theme is Top Ten Books that will put you out of a reading slump. Whenever I’m in a reading slump, I reread one of my favorite !

• The Islanders by Katherine Applegate. A bunch of friends, living on a small island. Drama, fun, adventures and A LOT of humor !
• The Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling. This series changed my childhood and I grew up with these characters !
• Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell for a little sweetness.
• Maybe Someday by Colleen Hoover, My auto buy author when it comes to romance.

That’s it ! It’s a top 4 indeed but I don’t need more books, these are enough for helping me getting out of a slump ! What are yours ?

Harry Potter, again ! I hope it will stay a reference, a series that will make a lot of children dive into the reading frenzy that we got !

• A Court Of Thorns And Roses series by Sarah J. Maas. This trilogy guys !!!
• The Shades Of Magic trilogy by V.E. Schwab. And to think that Victoria will be at the Salon Du Livre in Paris in a few weeks and that I won’t be able to go…. aaaarg !
• All the Shadowhunters books ! Cassandra Clare has built a wonderful world.

• Maybe Someday by Colleen Hoover. One of my favorite romance books !
• The After series by Anna Todd. WhenI started reading this series, I wasn’t expecting this hell of a ride !!
• A French series called Le Pacte Des Marchombres by Pierre Bottero. Imagine a mix between Celaena Sardothien, Rose Hathaway and Vin and you get a hint of that amazing MC !
• L’Héritage Des Rois Passeurs by Manon Fargetton. One of my favorite reads of 2017  and I know for sure that I’m gonna reread this book often !

| BOOK HAUL | MY DECEMBER 2017 BOOK HAUL PART 1

Hello lovelies ! How are you ? I hope you all have wonderful plans for the week end !I’m working tomorrow but I’ll probably have a great Sunday nonetheless ! Anyway, here is the first part of my December book haul ! It will be in three parts haha !

Today I’m sharing my physical book haul. The usual one. I’ll share the e books haul and my SLPJ haul later !

Let’s start, shall we ?

• The Harry Potter boxset by Scholastic. Look at how gorgeous it is, seriously !!! I got it during the Black Friday sales. I’m so so happy to admire it on my bookshelf !
• Frostfire by Amanda Hocking. I loved her Trylle trilogy when I read it years ago.
• Fairest by Marissa Meyer. I need to get the whole Lunar Chronicles. I loved the four main books.
• Comme Convenu, tome 2 by Laurel.

That’s it ! I’m very proud of this book haul !

| BOOK REVIEW | HARRY POTTER AND THE CURSED CHILD BY JOHN TIFFANY, JACK THORNE AND J.K. ROWLING

Harry Potter And The Cursed Child

Synopsis : Based on an original new story by J.K. Rowling, Jack Thorne and John Tiffany, a new play by Jack Thorne, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is the eighth story in the Harry Potter series and the first official Harry Potter story to be presented on stage. The play will receive its world premiere in London’s West End on July 30, 2016.

It was always difficult being Harry Potter and it isn’t much easier now that he is an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic, a husband and father of three school-age children.

While Harry grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his youngest son Albus must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted. As past and present fuse ominously, both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth: sometimes, darkness comes from unexpected places.

I enjoyed that book but I can’t compare it to the rest of the series. Nonetheless it was a fast read and I liked it !

They were great men, with huge flaws, and you know what – those flaws almost made them greater.

Plot

We follow Albus, Harry’s son throughout his years at Hogwarts. Being Harry’s son is far from being an easy thing for him.He could become everyone he wants. He chooses to become friend with Malfoy’s son, Scorpius.

On the other side, we’ve got an older Harry’s POV. Older, and having difficulties to connect with his son.

It was an okay read. As I said before, I can’t compare it to the Harry Potter’s series, it’s very different. It’s darker and more mature in a certain way. Neverthelesse, we also can see that J.K. Rowling has not written this book. Because it’s no a book, it’s a play. And I kept that in mind while reading it. It was a whole different reading experience !

Moreover, the plot is much more simplistic in my opinion. Since it’s a play, it hadn’t bothered me at all. I wasn’t expecting more than that to be honest.

From the beginning you can sense that something is off key with one of the characters. I think it’s because it’s a play.

It’s  like a little gift to us, Potterheads. As one, I know I wil read everything  related to Harry Potter.

The truth is a beautiful and terrible thing, and should therefore be treated with great caution.

Characters

• Albus is struggling with his father’s fame. It’s even more bothering him when he learns he’s a Slytherin. He wants to prove his own value. Even thoughhe is fed up with Harry, his father, he still loves him and seeks his approval. He is kind, soft-heartedand very loyal.
• Scorpius is badly treated because he is a Malfoy.  Albus is his only friend. I was really touched by Scorpius ! It’s difficult to get attached to characters while reading a play but Scorpius is such a cutie !
• Delphi is a pretty complex character.
• Harry is as lost with his role of father as he was as The Chosen One. In a certain way, nothing has changed hahaha !

Despite some bothering points, I really enjoyed it  !

• I’d love to visit Camp Half-Blood from the PJO series by Rick Riordan ! I’m sure it would be so much fun !!
• The world from the Mistborn trilogy by Brandon Sanderson. I’d love to see if I’d be gifted with allomancy ! How AMAZING would that be ?
• Ombre from L’Héritage Des Rois-Passeurs by Manon Fargetton is another great setting I’d like to visit.

 

• Red London from A Darker Shade Of Magic by V.E. Schwab. This seems like the perfect place for holidays, per say !
• Hogwarts from the Harry Potter series. No need to explain why I think !
• The New York Institute from The Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare. The library, the garden etc… Really it sounds great !

And that’s it ! My Top Ten is a Top 6 but that’s okay ! As you can see, it’s only Fantasy settings haha !

• Lila Bard from the Shades Of Magic trilogy by V.E. Schwab. She is fearless and hotheaded at the beginning but she surely learned from her mistakes and is totally able to lead a team or even a country !
• Kestrel from The Winner’s trilogy by Marie Rutkoski. She is calm and has a cunning mind, perfect for politics. But she is also true to her heart.
• Zuzana from the Daughter Of Smoke And Bone trilogy by Laini Taylor. She is fierce and always gets what she wants !
• Ismae from Grave Mercy by Robin LaFevers. She knows how to see what’s right. She would make a great leader !

 

• Hermione Granger from Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling. Do I need to say why ?!
• Dorian from the Throne Of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas. Cool tempered and far from being a hot head. The perfect ruler !
• Alec Lightwood from The Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare. Calm, he knows how to analyze a situation.

• Peeta Mellark from The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins.
• Adrian from the Bloodlines series by Richelle Mead. Well, not at the beginning of the series, obviously hahahaha !
• Four from the Divergent trilogy by Veronica Roth. For the same reasons than Alec.

• Karou from A Daughter Of Smoke And Bone trilogy. She lost a lot and yet she keeps fighting to save the world.
• Feyre from A Court Of Thorns And Roses by Sarah J. Maas. She is such a badass character from the beginning of the first book and she keeps fighting fiercely no matter what !
• Lila from the Shades Of Magic trilogy. Oh little Lila, you are far from being a fragile thing ! Deadly, that’s what she is !

• Emma Carstairs from The Dark Artifices trilogy by Cassandra Clare. I am currently reading the second book, Lord Of Shadows and she is amazing ! She is so ready to give up everything to assure the Blackthorns security and happiness. No matter how harsh the consequences can be for her.
• Vin from the Mistborn trilogy. From transparent to a powerful allomancer ! She is unbelievable.
• Hermione Granger from the Harry Potter series. Let’s be honest, this top ten couldn’t exist without her !

• Claire Beauchamps from the Outlander series. She is a warrior of her own ! Gifted with herbal medicine, she becomes an ally to the Mackenzie clan.
• Lily from It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover. She is a different kind of badass. Not a warrior, she isn’t a fantasy heroin, but she is a hero nonetheless. I won’t say more because I don’t want to spoil anyone.
