| BOOK REVIEW | THE RISE OF NINE BY PITTACUS LORE

the rise of nineThe Rise Of Nine
Author : Pittacus Lore
Series : Lorien Legacies
Genres : Young Adult, Science Fiction
Publication : August 2012 by Harper

The Rise of Nine is the third book in the Lorien Legacies series. This review will spoil you if you haven’t read the previous books.

Goodreads’ synopsis : Until the day I met John Smith, Number Four, I’d been on the run alone, hiding and fighting to stay alive.

Together, we are much more powerful. But it could only last so long before we had to separate to find the others. . . .

I went to Spain to find Seven, and I found even more, including a tenth member of the Garde who escaped from Lorien alive. Ella is younger than the rest of us, but just as brave. Now we’re looking for the others—including John.

But so are they.

They caught Number One in Malaysia.
Number Two in England.
And Number Three in Kenya.
They caught me in New York—but I escaped.
I am Number Six.
They want to finish what they started.

But they’ll have to fight us first.

A wise man once told me that only by leaving someone good can you meet someone better.

In this book, Four and Nine are obviously teaming up and kind of trying to find a way to free Sam and to find the others members of the Garde.
Meanwhile, Six, Marina and Ella are trying to find eight, helped by Crayton.
We also learn some major things. First, it’s about Sarah. It was something I suspected.
Moreover, Setrakus Râ is an imminent threat.
Things get more and more complicated because they’re trying to avoid the Mogadorians and the US government.

Characters :
– John is still a little too whiny, in my opinion. But he also knows what he wants. He is such a loyal friend.
– Nine is the reckless one. I think he will be a rather important character in the next books.
– Six is always the badass one. I really like her character !
– Marina is a little weak but doing her best to help her comrades.
– Ella is so adorable. I think she’s the cute character, in their team.
– Eight is a really interesting character. I loved how he managed to stay hidden and worshiped.

I really like the fact that they all team up in the end of the book. Finally. I think the next book will be full of badass moments, and so action packed.
This one was already a page turner, you barely have the time to take a deep breath that another struggle, another battle is here. But there are funny moments too and I really enjoyed it !

I didn’t like the changes of POV. Sometimes I wasn’t able to tell who was talking, Six or Marina. That bothered me a lot.
I wish we could have read about Sam, too. We don’t know a single thing about how he is. Is he still alive, or already dead ?

Anyway I really enjoyed this book and I can’t wait to buy the next one !

| BOOK REVIEW | THE POWER OF SIX BY PITTACUS LORE

the power of sixThe Power Of Six
Author : Pittacus Lore
Series : Lorien Legacies
Genres : Young Adult, Science Fiction
Publication : January 2011 by Harper Collins

This is the second book in a series, so this review may contain spoilers.

Goodreads’ summary : They know about the charm.
They know about our legacies.
They caught Number One, Number Two, and Number Three.
They killed them all.
I am Number Seven. One of six still alive.
We are growing stronger.
We are starting to come together.
We are ready to fight.
We are the last defense.

The Power of Six is the second book in the Lorien Legacies series.
I really enjoyed this book. There’s a dual point of view which is really interesting.
First, we’ve got John POV, like in the first book.
But we’ve also got Marina POV. She is number seven and is kept in a covent, with a cêpan who seems to have forgotten why they’re on earth, their mission.

John is running away with Sam and Six. It seems pretty obvious that six’ presence will only cause trouble between the 2 boys. Sam really likes her and we discover during the book that John likes her too. Which is weird, because Henri told him that Lorien can only love one person. This person should be Sarah.

On their run, they discover while reading Henri’s letter that Sam’s father knew about the Lorien.
While Six is struggling to get John’s chest back, he decides against all to contact Sarah. This wasn’t his best idea.

Meanwhile in Spain, Marina finds out that the Mogadorians know about her and are watching her. She met Ella and instantly likes her as a little sister whom she must take care of. We discover that Ella is Ten and was on the second ship, alongside Crayton. Crayton looks like a Mogadorian and scared the hell out of Marina more than once.

I like this book. I found it even better than the first one. The plot is way better, more complicated.
The additional Lorien characters are interesting. I really like how we got to discover the Lorien world, too. The dual POV brings something to the story. We get to see how to separate stories collapse into a big one, the Lorien destiny. I can’t wait to read the next book.4 stars

I read it a while ago, and I’m not really happy with this review. I still need to buy the sequel.

| BOOK REVIEW | I AM NUMBER ONE BY PITTACUS LORE

i am number fourI Am Number Four
Author : Pittacus Lore
Series : Lorien Legacies
Genre : science fiction, Young Adult

It’s about this guy (number four) who is living with his Cepan Henri, always on the run, trying to stay hidden from the Mogadorian. Because Four alias John and Henri are from Lorien, another planet.
They ran away and are now in Paradise.
But this time John get attached to the city and even made friends. He doesn’t want to live this new life, and this city.

First, the book was really slow at the beginning, but when action is finally here, I couldn’t put the book down !
I must say that I first saw the movie, which is unusual from me. The movie was not really great but I wanted to know what happens next so I bought the first book and it stayed on my TBR shelf for months.
Bernie Kozar is my favorite pet ever ! So caring and so perfect !

I really appreciated the character development for Mark. I’m not gonna tell why though, because spoilers !

I read this one last year and in the beginning of 2015 I read The Power Of Six.
