OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Hello lovelies ! Today I’m sharing my April TBR ! I plan on reading 5 books this month, 4 physical books and one e book.

Let’s start, shall we ?

  • Legendary by Stephanie Garber. I’ve read Caraval in March and absolutely LOVED it ! So I hope this one will live up to my expectations !
  • Poison Study by Maria V. Snyder. I’m currently reading that one but I’m barely a few chapters in. I’ve been wanting to read that one for so long !
  • Carry On, by Rainbow Rowell
  • The Witcher, Sword Of Destiny by Andrzej Sapkowski.

E book : Return To The Caves by J.S. Fields. I’ve read and really enjoyed the two previous books so I really need to read that one !

That’s it ! What are you planning on reading during April ?

| BOOK REVIEW | KINDRED SPIRITS BY RAINBOW ROWELL

Kindred SpiritsKindred Spirits
Author : Rainbow Rowell
Genres : Contemporary, Young Adult
Publication : February 25th 2016 by Macmillans Kids UK

Goodreads’ synopsis : ‘Everybody likes everything these days. The whole world is a nerd.’
‘Are you mad because other people like Star Wars? Are you mad because people like me like Star Wars?’
‘Maybe.’

If you broke Elena’s heart, Star Wars would spill out. So when she decides to queue outside her local cinema to see the new movie, she’s expecting a celebration with crowds of people who love Han, Luke and Leia just as much as she does. What she’s not expecting is to be last in a line of only three people; to have to pee into a collectible Star Wars soda cup behind a dumpster or to meet that unlikely someone who just might truly understand the way she feels. Kindred Spirits is an engaging short story by Rainbow Rowell, author of the bestselling Eleanor & Park, Fangirl and Carry On, and is part of a handful of selected short reads specially produced for World Book Day.

It was a cute and funny read !

It’s really nice to read about Elena fangirling and living her dream about Star Wars ! At the beginning she’s kind of disappointed in the so called line. She is shy, and doesn’t talk a lot with Troy and Gabe. It was nice to read how this changed ! She is finally determined to make the best out of it !
I didn’t think it was possible to witness so much character’s development in less than 100 pages ! Plus this short story is about a few days, not even a week !

Characters :
– Elena : she changed so much over the 70 pages. She learned more than just a few facts about Star Wars !
– Gabe : he also evolved. He opened up and decided to give Elena a chance.

So yeah, it’s cute short story ! I wish it was longer. I gave it 4 stars because since it’s short, I didn’t feel as invested in this story as I should have.

And the thing about nerd culture being mainstream culture now means that there’s no place to just be a nerd among other nerds – without being reminded that you’re the nerd.

4 stars

About the author

Rainbow RowellRainbow Rowell writes books. Sometimes she writes about adults (ATTACHMENTS and LANDLINE). Sometimes she writes about teenagers (ELEANOR & PARK and FANGIRL). But she always writes about people who talk a lot. And people who feel like they’re screwing up. And people who fall in love.

When she’s not writing, Rainbow is reading comic books, planning Disney World trips and arguing about things that don’t really matter in the big scheme of things.

She lives in Nebraska with her husband and two sons.
