This is the third book in the Autre Monde series. This review contains spoilers for the previous books. Also, this is a french book, so the synopsis will be written in French. I can translate it if you want, though.

Goodreads’ synopsis : Tobias disparu dans les entrailles du Raupéroden, Matt et Ambre retournent à Eden, la cité des Pans, pour avertir le conseil de la ville de l’imminence d’une invasion des Cyniks, fomentée par la reine Malronce. Les Pans n’ont plus le choix, ils doivent se préparer à combattre, notamment en développant leur Altération, ce pouvoir surnaturel octroyé par le Cataclysme.

Avec L’Alliance des Trois, on découvrait un nouveau monde, avec Malronce son exploration. Le Coeur de la Terre montre les jeunes héros dans l’apprentissage de la vie en commun, de la politique, de la guerre et du rapport, nécessaire et salutaire, à la nature. Ainsi que la résolution des énigmes comme la vraie nature du Raupéroden et de la reine Malronce.

I’ll try my best to explain you why !
It’s the third book in a French series, so this review contains spoilers for the previous books !

Matt and Ambre are now in Eden and they are bringing bad news : the war is about to begin. The resistance, the Eden army is created. There are so many things to do and there isn’t much hope.
Ambre and Matt will leave on a special mission : to understand what secret Ambre’s skin is holding. Matt also wants to do whatever he can to save Tobias.

I’m gonna start with saying that overall, I enjoyed this book. But I had some issues with it.
First, many plot twists were too obvious, in my opinion.
Also, the lack of explanations. The book ended with too many unanswered questions left.
Finally, I also found that the writing was sometimes too childish.

But there were also things that I really liked, such as the message behind this whole story. That the Earth is saving itself, that’s a great idea.
Moreover, this book is really action packed and captivating.
We also get to see the main characters growing up, becoming more mature, which is great.

So yeah it was pretty hard to rant this book. I liked it but too many “important” things bothered me.

Enfant discret, Maxime Chattam grandit en région parisienne. Il n’est pas particulièrement brillant à l’école mais se passionne pour le cinéma. A quatorze ans, après avoir regardé le film ‘Stand by Me’, il se met à le réécrire en rajoutant des péripéties. Il découvre le livre ‘Le Seigneur des anneaux’ et les romans de science-fiction de Stephen King notamment. Il rédige ‘L’ Ame du mal’ en 2001 et l’envoie à trois maisons d’édition. Un soir, Michel Lafon le contacte et lui propose de signer un contrat. ‘In Tenebris’ sort en mars 2003 alors qu’il est déjà en train d’écrire ‘Maléfices’. Cette même année, il achève le troisième opus de la trilogie ‘Maléfices’. Il publie en 2005 ‘Le Sang du temps’. En tout, Maxime Chattam signe cinq romans et parvient à réaliser son rêve d’enfant.
