| BOOK REVIEW | AFTER WE FELL BY ANNA TODD

after-we-fellAfter We Fell
Author : Anna Todd
Series : After
Publication : December 30th 2014 by Gallery Books

synopsis : Just as Tessa makes the biggest decision of her life, everything changes. Revelations about first her family, and then Hardin’s, throw everything they knew before in doubt and makes their hard-won future together more difficult to claim.

Tessa’s life begins to come unglued. Nothing is what she thought it was. Not her friends. Not her family. The one person she should be able to rely on, Hardin, is furious when he discovers the massive secret she’s been keeping. And rather than being understanding, he turns to sabotage.

Tessa knows Hardin loves her and will do anything to protect her, but there’s a difference between loving someone and being able to have them in your life. This cycle of jealousy, unpredictable anger, and forgiveness is exhausting. She’s never felt so intensely for anyone, so exhilarated by someone’s kiss—but is the irrepressible heat between her and Hardin worth all the drama? Love used to be enough to hold them together. But if Tessa follows her heart now, will it be…the end?

First thing first, this review will contain spoilers for After and After We Collided. The story picks up right where we left things in After We Collided.

Plot

Tessa learns awful things about her father. This book is heavier than the two previous ones. It deals with some serious topics.

Hessa relationship is as always : back and forth. But Tessa is growing exhausted by this situation. The constant lies, the schemes… Hardin doesn’t want Tessa to move to Seattle. But Tessa wants to be more independent. She doesn’t want to rely on Hardin or his family.
And again, so much happens !! This book is an emotional roller coaster !
Hardin is making Tessa suffer because of his own fears. We got his point of view which is crucial in my opinion !
Tessa also endures a very painful betrayal. I’m not gonna say much about it but let’s say she avoided the worst. It was difficult to witness such an awful situation.

But then things gets better. Apart from the terrible truths about Tessa’s father, of course. The dynamic of their couple is changing and that’s for the best. The distance seems really good for their relationship.

There is a big difference between not being able to live without someone and loving them.

I really appreciated that Tessa didn’t give in to Hardin’s demands. He made a lot of unforgivable things in order to get his way. I think Hardin’s POV was mandatory in this book. His mind is so complex, his way of thinking is really his ! It’s like one step forward and ten backward with him. A constant dance, a roller coaster ! But Tessa toughens up, really !

The part about the party really broke my heart and surprised the hell out of me ! I wasn’t expecting this at all !

There’s a lot of drama in this book. Despite all the tears I shed, I really loved it, even more than the previous books. I was even more hooked than before ! I was living, breathing Hessa !
And the ending was really devastating  !

Nobody is a lost cause. They just think they are, so they don’t even bother to try sometimes.

Characters

  • Tessa has matured and toughened up ! She learns to fend for herself. She still loves Hardin so much but knows that things can’t stay the way they were.
  • Hardin’s POV is really important in this book ! We can understand why he acts in such a cruel way at times.
  • Landon is also becoming tougher. He cares deeply for Tessa but has now his own struggles. Moreover, he also cares for Hardin. Their bond is cute to witness.

Overall I really loved this book !

I have come to learn that the people who pretend to care the least actually care the most.

  1. I think I need to read After We Collided and then this one. They do sound like good reads although they also seem emotional. Great review!
